This vintage style bonnet has been given a modern twist by keeping the pattern simple at the front, with the more elaborate detailing at the back of the hat.
I love this style of hat, and it’s particularly delightful when worn on the smaller frame of a child, so I have named it ‘The Rathlin,’ after a very small island off the coast of Northern Ireland, near where I grew up.
I have included details for crocheting this hat in three sizes, 3-6 months, 6-12 months and 2-4 years. You will need a medium or worsted weight yarn to complete the project. The pattern is suitable for beginners, with a basic crocheting knowledge, and is written in standard US terms. I have included detailed step-by-step instructions, and I also offer free support via email, should you need help with any aspect of the making process. If you have any questions whatsoever, do feel free to contact me, firstname.lastname@example.org.
I strive to provide patterns that are technically correct and easy to follow, and each of my patterns have been tested for errors and pattern clarity, as well as for fit and comfort. My patterns are designed for those new to crochet, as well as the seasoned crafters amongst us.
